In Memorium, Kent Womack

GreenSky Capital extends its condolences to the family and friends of Professor Kent Womack, who passed away peacefully but unexpectedly last week. Kent was a founding member of the GreenSky Accelerator Fund’s Investment Committee and GreenSky was as thrilled to have Kent join the Committee as we are saddened by his passing.

Kent held the prestigious Manulife Financial Chair in Financial Services at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. He had been a member of the Rotman faculty since 2010 where he taught core finance, Rotman’s unique Integrative Thinking course, and behavioural finance. Prior to that, Kent was at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, where he built on his experience at Goldman Sachs to become a world expert on the role of equity analysts and underwriting. A true renaissance man, Kent was a national-class athlete in the javelin and was an accomplished jazz pianist.

Said GreenSky President Greg Stewart, “Kent was larger than life. He was an inspiration to me as a student at the Rotman School, as he was to so many others, and it was an incredible honour when he accepted a role with the GreenSky Fund. He loved business and new intellectual challenges. As an investor, he was excited to work with a new asset class, and as a manager and leader, he was looking forward to working with our investee companies. His contribution was immediate, and he will be missed.”
