Edgecom Energy has secured a $2.5 million seed round led by GreenSky Ventures, with additional investment from ABB Electrification Ventures. This strategic funding will accelerate Edgecom’s expansion into new energy markets and further develop its AI-powered Energy CoPilot, a generative AI-driven platform designed to optimize energy management for commercial and industrial users.
As energy costs continue to rise and industries seek innovative ways to meet sustainability targets, Edgecom Energy has positioned itself as a leader in AI-powered energy optimization. The company’s AI Energy CoPilot integrates Energy Management Information Systems (EMIS) with real-time grid programs and distributed energy resources (DERs), enabling businesses to achieve greater efficiency and cost savings while reducing their environmental footprint.
ABB previously recognized Edgecom as a winner in its 2024 Startup Challenge and has now deepened its investment in the Toronto-based company. ABB’s Smart Power division will work closely with Edgecom to develop AI-enabled solutions tailored to large industrial energy users across North America. Edgecom’s technology aligns with ABB’s commitment to electrification and automation, helping customers save energy and reduce costs.
GreenSky Ventures sees significant market potential in Edgecom’s solutions. “Edgecom’s products empower customers to manage energy consumption efficiently, and as global energy conservation efforts intensify, the company’s AI-driven approach will become increasingly valuable,” said Moien Giashi, Principal at GreenSky Ventures. “We are excited to support Edgecom’s expansion into the U.S. market, where the company’s solutions will drive meaningful energy and cost savings.”
The International Energy Agency (IEA) has emphasized the urgency of doubling energy efficiency progress in the coming decade to meet net-zero targets. Edgecom Energy’s AI Energy CoPilot directly addresses this need by providing industrial and commercial users with actionable insights to optimize their power usage, reduce peak demand, and integrate with energy market programs.
“With the support of GreenSky Ventures and ABB Electrification Ventures, we are scaling our AI-powered Energy CoPilot to deliver faster, smarter, and more impactful energy solutions. The race to net-zero requires bold innovation, and our platform equips businesses to cut costs, lower emissions, and enhance operational resilience” said Behdad Bahrami, CEO and Co-Founder of Edgecom Energy.
